Vision

To align with the UCI Medical Center, OSHPD and the construction community to build a new acute care hospital on time and on budget using the design build delivery method.

Project Description

The New University Hospital at the UCI Medical Center in Orange will be a 500,000 square foot acute care facility dedicated to patient care, teaching and research. The new hospital will replace UCI Medical Center's main hospital building, which was built in 1960. An enclosed bridge will connect the new hospital to the existing Emergency Department and Birthing Center.

The New University Hospital will be a center for excellence in healthcare for Orange County, with seven floors plus a full basement, a total of 221 patient beds, 15 operating rooms, intensive care units, treatment rooms, and laboratories. Designed with the patient in mind, rooms will capture natural light and provide increased privacy and space for patients' families.

The New University Hospital is the largest construction project in Orange County.
